Frequently asked questions
How does meeting an inmate on LttR work?
Browse profiles for free, with no account. Choose someone, copy the facility mailing address on the profile, and send a letter by postal mail yourself. Creating an LttR account is free and uses an email and password, but you do not need one to browse or to write. LttR does not print, forward, or mail letters, and there is no in-app messaging. If a profile lists JPay, Securus, GettingOut, or CorrLinks, you can use that app where it is offered.
Is it safe to meet an inmate on LttR?
LttR moderates listings. A person reviews each profile before it goes live and reviews edits before they go live again. That review does not independently check the details, and it is not a background check. Read the safety guidance, follow the facility's mail rules, and report a concern to support@erosmedia.ai. LttR is operated by EROS MEDIA LLC.
How much does it cost to meet an inmate on LttR?
Browsing profiles is free, and writing a letter is free on LttR because you mail it yourself. Creating an account is free. The person who lists the profile pays for the listing. Listing access periods and automatic renewal terms are shown before payment by card through Commas. Existing prepaid purchases remain non-renewing. Standard includes an unlimited bio, a photo gallery, and full search visibility. Featured includes everything in Standard plus top placement, a badge, social promotion, and priority review. A profile can include up to 5 photos. See plans and prices on the pricing page (/pricing).
How do letters reach the inmate?
You mail them yourself to the facility address on the profile. Use the copy-address button, then follow that facility's mail rules for envelopes, photos, and what you may send. LttR does not print, forward, or mail letters. Where a profile lists an e-message app such as JPay, Securus, GettingOut, or CorrLinks, you can use that service on your own.
How does LttR compare with other inmate pen-pal sites?
LttR is a directory. You browse human-reviewed profiles for free and mail letters yourself to the facility address. Some other sites also publish a mailing address for you to write directly. Some print a message you submit on the site and mail it to the facility. Listing prices and what a listing includes differ by site. A comparison of listing features and ways to write, with links to sources, is on the Sites Like Meet an Inmate page. LttR is not affiliated with those sites.
Is LttR the same as MeetAnInmate.com?
No; LttR is a separate, independent free directory (not affiliated with MeetAnInmate.com).
See plans and prices on the pricing page.
