Go slowly, protect your personal information, and follow the current rules published by the recipient’s facility. A listing is an invitation to write—not a guarantee of identity, conduct, or outcome.
Keep firm boundaries
Do not send money, account credentials, financial documents, or valuables to someone you do not know and trust. Use a P.O. box or another privacy-conscious return address if you do not want to share your home address. Do not assume a person’s identity, history, intentions, release date, or legal status from a profile alone. Do not help anyone evade facility rules, monitoring, legal restrictions, or lawful processes. Never share intimate material or sensitive information under pressure.
Check the official rules
Mail, photo, package, and electronic-message rules differ by facility and can change. Confirm the current instructions on the facility or Department of Corrections website before sending anything. This guidance is educational and is not legal advice.
